New Hope's Ministries
College Ministry
At New Hope, we are passionate about college students! College is a time like no other. It is the time for discovering who you are, what you believe, and how you will interact with the world. The questions you face, the relationships you form and the identity you establish will forge your character and set the course of your life for years to come. Our goal is to enable you to discover the biblical tools you need to become the person God has called you to be and to leave an eternally significant legacy.
Life Groups
Life Groups are small groups of people who meet regularly in homes, businesses, coffee houses and restaurants to share about their lives with each other, to pray, and to explore what the Bible means for life. Life Groups come in all shapes and sizes: men's groups, women's groups, couple's groups, single's groups, college groups...well, you get the picture. Ask someone involved in a Life Group and they will often tell you some of their deepest friendships are with people in their group.
Men's Ministry
What does it mean to be a man? Nothing more than work, beer, and football? There must be more to life than this. In fact, there is! God intends men to play a crucial and exciting role in their homes, workplace, and culture that will influence not only today, but future generations. Therefore, our goal is not only the transformation of men’s lives, but also equipping men to be used by God to transform every context in which they daily interact. We do this through teaching and discussion groups that focus on issues important to men, and events like hiking, basketball, ultimate frisbee, flag football, movie nights, and game nights.
One to One Discipleship
In Jesus' final instruction to the church, He commanded the church to make disciples, or people who will follow his teaching and life. Consequently, the goal of the Christian life is not “accepting” Jesus, but becoming a mature and effective disciple of Jesus. Therefore, we at New Hope strive to think like Jesus, love like Jesus and live like Jesus.
Although our life groups are the primary vehicle by which we facilitate the process of disciple making, we also seek to meet one-on-one with those faithful individuals who are available and willing to be taught more deeply about how to walk with Jesus. Although the process of discipleship will vary from person to person because everybody possesses different struggles and life situations, some of the common elements for all discipleship relationships will be accountability, prayer, learning to study and apply the Bible, acquiring basic ministry tools and learning about practical Christian living.
Service
One of our passions at New Hope is helping those in need. We frequently work alongside great organizations in town such as the local food bank, the women’s shelter, Centre Peace, and PSU’s international student ministry. Therefore, if you are passionate about helping others and have fresh ideas about how to love and serve the world, New Hope is the place for you!
Social Events
At New Hope we have a passion for developing meaningful relationships with one another. One of the ways we do this is by providing the opportunity for people to interact through fun-loving events such as barbecues, game nights, holiday parties, play-days at the park, miniature golfing, playing sports, hiking, and serving root beer floats.
Women's Ministry
What is femininity? God created women in His image to uniquely reflect His heart. He has a plan for women that can impact their families, their churches, their communities, and the world. We affirm the blessings of purity in singleness, marriage, and motherhood. It is our goal to help women discover a biblical, God centered approach to femininity and find the freedom, joy, and fruitfulness that comes from seeking God's will for them in every season of their lives.
One of our primary strategies for encouraging and empowering women to live God's intention for their lives is through MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), an international organization that "exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers to realize her potential as a woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ." The group currently meets once a month for creative activities, relevant teaching, and discussion. Also during the MOPS meeting, children ages newborn through preschool are cared for in a program called MOPPETS, where they experience love in a preschool-like setting. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact the church at 814.466.7818.
